Three time Tour de France winner Chris Froome posted a tweet this morning saying that he had been 'rammed on purpose by an impatient driver' while out for a training ride in France. He says that he is okay although his rather expensive bike has been badly damaged or 'totaled' as he put it. The driver kept going and did not stop.
It's not been a great start to the season for the Team Sky leader with disappointing performances in the Volta a Catalunya and Tour de Romandie. He is currently in training for the Dauphine, often seen as a precursor for the Tour de France.
Froome's run-in with a car comes just days after Michele Scarponi was knocked off and killed on a training ride near his home in Italy.
