24 year-old IAM cyclist rider Larry Warbasse made a few new friends on Saturday when he handed out out €30 worth of sweets to pro riders at the Giro d’Italia.
The American cyclist is training in the area and posted on Twitter: “The last climb of the giro passes the apt I’m staying at up at altitude. Thought what I would want on the last climb of the race so I decided to go out and buy €30 worth of candy bars to pass out at the top. Unfortunately I’m almost out and the grupetto isn’t even here!”
Giant Alpecin's Chad Haga was just one of the appreciative riders: “That Mars bar at 2200m was one of the highlights of my day – I ate it so enthusiastically that I couldn’t breathe!”
